How it All Began: 1994: The vision of philanthropist Mr. Arthur Temple, Jr. (1920 – 2006) emerged with the desire to build lodging accommodations for patients traveling to Lufkin for cancer treatments. Recognizing the cost of medical treatment, the vision to provide inexpensive housing was made possible through the generous financial support of the TLL Temple Foundation. The legacy and works of Mr. Temple are held in the highest regard as we reflect on this gentleman who served as the President of Temple Industries during its most formative years. His unselfish dedication is ingrained in the mission and outreach of the Joe W. Elliott House.
